A NEW CHAMPION BORN AND RAISED AT THE CANOTTIERI FIRENZE
ROWING SCHOOL
Canottieri Firenze back on the roof of the world! Three years after the last time - and for the umpteenth time - a red and white wins the gold medal at the World Championships. It is Giovanni Paoli, who at the Under 19 World Championships in St. Catharines (Canada) won the world title as head of the rowing four without, one of the most important specialties on the international rowing scene, also known as the "Boat of the Gods", together with Luca from Como Cassina and Filippo BANCA and Leonardo Sostegni from Limito. Giovanni, a student of our DT Luigi De Lucia and still only in his first year in the U19 category, won the title over Great Britain and China, adding the world championship gold to his palmares (and that of the Rowing Club) to the two European titles won also in leader of the four without last year in France and this year in Poland.
